The St. John Bracelet Company — The Story Behind Our Signature
Share
We do not buy souvenirs. We commission things that mean something.
We found the St. John Bracelet Company in Cruz Bay on a trip that started as a St. Thomas beach day and turned into the kind of afternoon you do not plan for. Small shop. Husband and wife. Terrell and Jana.
We ordered a custom hook bracelet and came back two days later to pick it up.
I gave it to her as a wedding gift. She wore it when we got married on Secret Harbor Beach in St. Thomas. I got a watch. Between the two of us we were well accessorized for a beach ceremony during a pandemic with nobody else around.
The hook is a Caribbean tradition. Worn facing your heart it means your heart is taken. Worn facing out it means you are available. But the deeper meaning is simpler — the hook catches the island. The sea will always bring you back.
The man who married us had grown up in our same hometown and ended up living in St. Thomas. Which is the kind of thing the Caribbean does when you pay attention.
At some point tell them we sent you stopped being something we said and started being something we believed. It became the closing line for everything we write here — every local operator, every boutique hotel, every restaurant that deserves more tables than it has. It is about connection. About the people who make these islands what they are. About choosing the real version of a place over the resort version every single time.
Terrell and Jana are that. Their shop is worth your afternoon.

What metals do they use?
Sterling silver, gold in various karats, and combinations of both.
How did Tell Them We Sent You start?
It became the closing line for everything we write here — local connection over tourist infrastructure — the whole philosophy of this site in four words.
Is this where the wedding bracelet came from?
Yes. Custom made by Terrell and Jana in Cruz Bay. Given as a wedding gift on Secret Harbor Beach in St. Thomas. The hook means the sea will always bring you back. It keeps bringing us back.
