We drove the winding road along the west coast for almost two hours before we arrived at Ti Kaye. Driving up the narrow rocky path to the resort in the dark we did not know what to expect. The Coqui echoing in the dark greeted us as we arrived.
St. Lucia is our favorite trip we have ever taken and we are still not entirely sure how to explain why.
The island is volcanic and dramatic — crystal clear waters, hidden waterfalls, black sand beaches, and the twin Piton peaks rising straight out of the Caribbean. Rainforest covers the interior. The diving walls drop into blue so deep there is no visible bottom. Every corner of the island reveals something most Caribbean travelers never find.
It does not feel like a vacation. It feels like something that happened to us.
